radio communication
trough the qoi-nen leaves growing on their bodies, the dragons are able to communicate using low frequency radio waves, along with their normal speech, which lets them have not just a longer reach, but coordinate actions without alerting of wild animals or other species
the radio waves are between the frequencies of 400 KHz to 2 MHz, although the actual ranges used in most communication is smaller, generally between 800 KHz and 1.5 MHz (their 'hearing' gradually lowers approaching the extremes), with the division between different 'channels' that can be tuned in and out by different positioning of their leaves and applying different amounts of certain organic compounds to their roots
these signals can reach up to 800 meters in the relatively cluttered environment of a forest and up to 2 kilometres in an open area (or trough using the naturally growing qoi'nen plants as repeaters), although the more strength put into transmitting the harder it is, akin to shouting, non 'shouty' communication reaching 200 meters in a cluttered forest and 1 kilometre of ideal conditions
transmissions
the transmissions can be plain speech, done trough having the vibrations of their mouth passed along to the leaves in their antlers and whiskers, and being able to receive those on their antlers which relay to nerves closer to their ears, these are generally more shorter range though as it is more complicated to transmit and receive the nuances of spoken speech
they can also be arbitrary tones and pulses, that are frequency modulated to produce certain patterns, these not mimicking speech, although each individual has a kind of 'voice' when transmitting this type of communication
